1st day off
My first day in Princeton was a day off. Over night we got a couple of inches of fresh snow. Thus, Siemens closed the building and we were informed via phone calls around 11pm on Sunday night that we do not have to show up at Siemens on Monday.
Instead of going to the office I met with three other new interns for an extended breakfast. Later, we took care to secure the absolute fundamentals of our lives here. Priority #1 was the car.

I got a Dodge Avenger. It is a little bigger than the Pontiac G6 I had last year. But a look below the engine hood revealed that there is only a 2.4l engine inside. For American standards this is really tiny!
By the way: The gas prices dropped a lot since last year. One gallon regular costs around 1,77$. With today’s exchange rate, that is around 38 Euro cents per liter. Great!

Next thing was to get a mobile phone. After seeing more or less bored sales representatives from almost every wireless carrier in the US we ended up buying T-Mobile sim cards which you can just put into your European triple-band mobile.
After opening bank accounts and the obligatory visit at Starbucks we did a small tour around Princeton downtown and the university campus.

The picture shows the Firestone Library were I already spent some afternoons last year.

Hi Manuel,
Angelika

It’s a question of honor, to spent my free time usefully! I’ve already burned a quarter of a tank load of gas while crusing from mall to mall.
