Noxon iRadio stopped playing
Our Noxon iRadio stopped working by this morning. The strange thing was that you could still select radio streams for playing. It was even possible to browse the folder structure on our fileserver via UPnP and Mediatomb. But whenever you tried to actually play a song/stream, nothing happened. Even after a full reset.
The only thing that helped flash the firmware again using the same version that we used before. Now it works again! Hopefull, people with the same problem find this page.

Yeah, I have had the same problem! Somehow browsing my uPnP media server causes the iRadio to reboot. Internet radio is still ok.
Flashing worked for an hour or so but the problem is back. If it happens again let me know.

Which UPNP server are you using? I had ushare running and there flashing did the trick.
Anyway, I’d suggest switching to Mediatomb because that solved most of the problems with the Noxon we had before (e.g., Noxon used to stop playing after a random number of tracks).

Hi Manuel
I am using a Netgear Readynas+ NAS server with its built in uPnP server.
I have just spoken to Terratec in germany and a very helpful tech gave me the following advice:
Dont run your WLAN on channel 12 or 13, use between 1 and 6 for best results.
Also – he pointed me to the latest beta drivers for the iradio:
http://ftp.terratec.de/HomeEntertainment/NOXONiRadio/Update/Beta/
which offers a whole new interface etc… It replaces not only the firmware but also the bootloader (readme file explains it all) and allows dynamic firmware updates without needing a PC as well as better memory management and wireless buffering!
I will try it tonight and let you know how it goes and wether it fixes my problems!
Con.

Hey Conall,
thanks for sharing the links!
Regarding WLAN: I’ve stopped using the iRadio via WLAN completely. It runs a lot more stable since I’ve switched to normal LAN connection.
Cheers,
Manuel

Hi There again,
The new firmware looks pretty much the same as the old. The new bootloader gives more info on the device when its in update mode which is nice.
Differences seem to be that it now gets its radio list directly from the net rather than downloading lists which go out of date. There is also the ability to update the firmware directly from the website from the iradio itself, which is nice.
All in all, not bad.
Rgds
Conall.

Hi there
new firmware can now play flac, but i have a few problems with it. Noise Level is much higher than the stable 6392 firmware, the display only shows the playlist or the radio station but never both.

I had some trouble installing the new firmware. The installer crashed two times before it went through uploading the complete new firmware image. I guess it was just luck that I tried it a third time.
Apart from that, the new version did not add any functions that are useful for me…
